Introduction

The 3rd annual Port Finance International Black Sea Conference took place on 1 & 2 March 2011 in Istanbul.
Over 150 industry leaders from the region’s ports and terminals and those involved in port investment and development attended and shared their insights and experiences of the market and growth potential in the Black Sea region. This year’s conference placed particular emphasis on the opportunities for business in Black Sea ports in Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria and a special visit arranged by UKTI (who hosted the conference in the wonderful setting of Pera House at the British Consulate) brought prominent UK companies to demonstrate the expertise and services they can offer to this sector.
The conference was opened by Jessica M. Other speakers such as Richard Hill (Associate, Ports & Maritime, Atkins), Idil Gursel (Vice President, Project & Acquisition Finance, Garanti Bank) and Pascal Reyne (CEO, Container Terminal Services) looked at ways of optimising your business approach in the region.
