News - MPIC denies Manila port deal pull-out
Metro Pacific Investment Corporation has denied reports that it has removed itself from a consortium bidding for an 25-year operating concession for the North Harbor in Manila, with a statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange.
Newspaper reports in the Philippines had suggested that the company was no longer involved in the port deal, however Metro Pacific Investment Corporation (MPIC) has stated that this is untrue and that it is still committed to pursuing the contract.
"MPIC is still pursuing the bid for the Manila North Harbor with Harbour Centre," the statement said.
"We hope to have clarified the [media reports] in the interest of the trading participants and investing public."
Harbour Centre Port Terminal, Inc, MPIC's partner in the consortium, is a port terminal operator in the Philippines.
The reports had suggested that MPIC was looking to remove itself from the process to focus its resources on other investment projects.
